I LOVE YOU
I LOVE YOU
I Love You, an exhibition by Daniel González that reimagines the power of language through transformative visual art.
González’s art focuses on the ritual of celebration, a collective practice that transcends rational order and connects people across time and culture. Drawing on anthropological ideas, he explores how celebration disrupts social norms, offering a space for emotional exchange.
The exhibition I Love You showcases González’s transformative series, where he elevates everyday phrases into striking visual artworks. Familiar expressions like “I Love You” “Thank You” “It’s Ok” and “Peace Please” are reinterpreted to explore universal themes of connection, gratitude and calm. Using Mylar, a reflective material, the artist imbues the works with a celebratory and ethereal quality, resonating with Guy Debord’s concept of the “society of spectacle.” These luminous pieces highlight the emotional depth of simple words, transforming them into vibrant emblems of human connection.
Born in Buenos Aires in 1963, González is an Argentine artist who lives and works between Italy and New York. Renowned for his ability to blend pop-up aesthetics with large-scale installations, his notable works include “Pop-up Museo Disco Club” at the Barrio Museum Biennale in 2011 and “Pop-up Building” in Rotterdam in 2010. In collaboration with Anna Galtarossa, he created prominent projects such as “Chili Moon Town Tour” in Mexico City and “Homeless Rocket with Chandeliers” in Milan, both in 2007. He received the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 2017 and showcased ephemeral architecture collections like “#WhatsUpArgentina MiCasaTuCasa” at the MAR Museum in Buenos Aires in 2019.
